Boosting your income quickly is easier than you think. Here are six fast ways to put more money in your pocket.
- SELL YOUR STUFF
Take a weekend and dig up your old things. Especially the bins that you haven’t opened in years! We promise you will find things there that you can retail. Whether it be clothes, trinkets, home décor pieces, even gently used office supplies. There are numerous sites you can use to post and market your items; Facebook Marketplace is a great way to start because there’s no fee to join Facebook, and it’s super-easy to upload photos of your items for sale. Other similar sites are Offerup, Ebay, Craiglist, and NextDoor.
- SAVE CONSTANTLY
If you aren’t the saving kind, you can start by slowly putting away $10 per week. Seems like a small amount, but after one year that’s $500 you stashed aside. You can also try the envelope challenge developed by Krista Zahron that many Tiktokers have tried. Take a hundred envelopes and number each envelope 1 to 100. Then put them in a box. Every week, choose two envelopes randomly and whatever dollar amount is on the envelope will be the amount of cash you’ll put in. Seal and tape the envelope shut. If you stay loyal to this method then by the 50th week you will have found that you saved $5,050. This challenge was enough to motivate hundreds of Tiktokers in 2020 to save money!
- PICK UP A SIDE GIG
With people staying home and keeping their social distance during the pandemic, there is more need for extra help or deliveries. Doordash, Ubereats, Postmates, Grubhub and Instacart are the five most popular food and grocery service that are always looking to hire more drivers. Signing up is simple, and you can make your own schedule and choose the hours that work for you.
- GET CREATIVE
If you are handy, take those skills and turn them into side income. Whether it’s turning a piece of wood block into a beautiful new and personalized home décor or using your cricut to make fun and personalized shirts. Sell them on Etsy, or create your own retail website.
- GO BACK TO BASICS
No one wants to be on a budget, but let’s get real. We all waste hundreds of dollars on the most minute things, and eventually that all piles up. We could all save by eating out less, saying “no” to a party invite, spending less on gym memberships and fancy gadgets. If we learn to be more minimalistic, our money can go a long way.
- ASK FOR AN INCREASE
Have you put enough years and hours into your job? It never hurts to speak up and ask for an increase in your salary. There is nothing wrong with asking for a raise, and some people wait too long to do so. Glassdoor.com gives great tips on just how you should approach your boss on this subject, what to present and HOW to prepare yourself. Everyone deserves an income boost for a job well-done!
